LAWRENCEVILLE, NJ – The Rider University women's swimming and diving team closed out 2023 in style, defeating Mount St. Mary's, 195-101. The Broncs improve to 3-4 on the season, while the Mountaineers fall to 2-3.
The Bronc women won 11 events in the meet.
Casey McLaughlin (Ramsey, NJ/Ramsey) kicked off the day for the Broncs with a win in the 1,000-free, leading a sweep in the event with
Mallory Mead (Middle River, MD/Dulaney[Oklahoma Christian]) taking second and
Liv Turner-Havira (Archbald, PA/Scranton Prep) swimming third. The trio stopped the clock at 10:56.12, 10:58.08, and 11:46.65. McLaughlin would also win the 200-IM in 214.64.
Hannah Yemec (Bluffton, SC/May River) then led a sweep in the 200-free ahead of
Megan Smith (Philadelphia, PA/Nazareth Academy) and
Lea Opdyke (Ocala, FL/West Port). The group swam 1:58.02, 1:58.58, and 1:59.10. Opdyke and Smith later swam one two in the 500-free, touching the wall at 5:16.56 and 5:19.74.
Yemec, Smith, and Mclaughlin then swept the 200-fly for the Broncs, finishing at 2:07.55, 2:13.41, and 2:14.25. Yemec would later earn her third win of the day in the 100-free, swimming 54.08.
Karyn Creelman (Mohnton, PA/Governor Mifflin),
Maiti O'Connor (South Plainfield, NJ/The Wardlaw-Hartridge School), and
Adriana Raymond (Southington, CT/St. Paul Catholic) swept the 3-meter with scores of 204.30, 197.55, and 190.95. The trio later swept the 1-meter with scores of 215.55, 206.33, and 169.73.
Mead and
Chastity Ruatos (Lodi, NJ/Immaculate Conception) swam 2:09.70 and 2:11.76 to finish one-two in the 200-back.
Alexa Torres (Lyndhurst, NJ/Lyndhurst) and
Maddie McSorley (Philadelphia, PA/Nazareth Academy) finished one-two in the 100-fly, swimming 1:00.48 and 1:00.74 in a race in which first and fourth were separated by just .41 seconds.
Yemec, Opdyke, Mead, and Smith wrapped up the meet with a win in the 400-free, combining for a time of 3:39.95.

Allison Stewart (Newtown Square, PA/Lower Merion) and
Suriya Pathammavong (Rochester, NY/Churchville Chili) finished two-three in the 100-breast. Pathammavong was also second in the 200-breast.

Connar Melcher (Mohnton, PA/Governor Mifflin) and
Paola Carlesso (Caracas, Venezuela/The New School Medellin[Colegio Simon Bolivar]) swam two-three in the 50-free. Carlesso also swam third in the 100-free.
