Women's Cross Country Finishes 4th at MAAC Championships

Dischert earns All-MAAC

MONTGOMERY, NY–  Freshman Maddie Dischert (Brigantine, NJ/Atlantic City) earned All-MAAC and MAAC Most Outstanding Rookie as the Rider University women's cross country team finished fourth at MAAC Championships at The Twin Ponds on the Farm Saturday. The conference championships featured 11 MAAC programs, with Quinnipiac winning the race with five top-10 finishers.

Dischert was the Broncs' top finisher, completing the 6-kilometer course in 21:46.9, good for 15th and tops among freshmen. Senior Jordan O'Neill (Langhorne, PA/Neshaminy) was next in 22nd at 22:28.2. At the same time, Faith Evans(Mechanicsburg, PA/Mechanicsburg) took 24th at 22:33.3 to join Dischert on the MAAC All-Rookie Team. Grace Medei (Bethlehem, PA Notre Dame Green Pond)(22:34.4, 25th) and Makala Hansen (Warminster, PA William Tennent)(23:10.8, 32nd) rounded out the Rider top finishers.

"The women raced really well today. It wasn't perfect but they really stepped up and gave a championship effort today. I'm really proud of them and this team has come a long way. Maddie ran great today to lead the team. She has been consistently there for us each week."

- Quinnipiac won the race with five top 10 finishers.
- Iona's Tayla Gunton won the race with a time of 20:54.6. 
- Maddie Dischert's 15th-place finish earned her All-MAAC accolades.
- In addition, the MAAC announced its All-Academic Team. 14 Broncs were honored. To be eligible, student-athletes must maintain a 3.20 GPA or better and have completed at least two semesters at their institution.
