Wrestling Drops MAC Dual at Lock Haven

Major decisions from #7 Laird, #26 Bell, and Mays not enough for Rider at Lock Haven

LOCK HAVEN, PA- Rider Wrestling dropped its first MAC dual of the season on Thursday night as they fell, 21-12, at Lock Haven. #7/#7 Ethan Laird, #33/#26 McKenzie Bell, and Hunter Mays were all able to pick up major decision wins for the Broncs in the dual. With the loss, the Broncs fall to 4-3 (2-1 MAC), while the Bald Eagles are now 3-6 (2-1 MAC).

Rider's first win came from Bell as he was able to pitch a shutout over Ty Linsenbigler of Lock Haven. The major is the second bout in a row Bell would pick up a bonus point win as he was able to take down Sean Pierson of Princeton 10-1 last weekend.

Mays was able to get his fourth major decision of the year and his second in MAC duals as he took down J.T Hogan 12-3 to cut the team scoring to only four after the Rider win at 165.

Following back-to-back wins for Lock Haven, Ethan Laird would dominate once again and remain perfect in MAC duals. Laird was able to get the third major for the Broncs on the evening as he won 16-5 over Brad Morrison to keep the Broncs alive going into the HWT bout. The win keeps Laird perfect 3-0 in MAC duals, with all three wins having come with extra team points by major decision or tech fall.

  • Hunter Mays' major at 165 is his second straight MAC win, both being by major decision. (Trenton Harder, 13-4)
  • The Broncs' will be back in action this Saturday at 7 p.m. as they host the Bucknell Bison.
