BLOOMINGTON, IN – Rider University senior track & field student-athlete
Teagan Schein-Becker (Trappe, PA/Perkiomen Valley) finished fifth in her heat in the 1500 meters Thursday at the NCAA East Preliminary Championships, hosted by Indiana University, to advance to Saturday's quarterfinals. Schein-Becker's time of 4:18.39 was 24th among Thursday's competitors.
"It was real exciting to see Teagan finish in the top five and get the auto qualifying spot for the quarterfinals on Saturday," said Rider Head Coach
Bob Hamer. "She ran a really good and smart race. She will need to clean up a few things on Saturday to put herself into position to advance to the NCAA finals site. The goal is always to get to the next step and she did a great job of fulfilling that goal today. On to Saturday!"
Schein-Becker's mark was just a shade below her program-record time of 4:18.32, established at the Penn Relays on April 28. Saturday's quarterfinals are slated for 5:15 p.m.
