LAWRENCEVILLE, NJ – Rider University junior utility player Elena Gonzalez (Ashburn, VA/Stone Bridge) has been named MAAC Player of the Week, the league office today announced. Gonzalez hit .381 (8-for-21) with three doubles, two home runs, 13 RBI's and six runs scored  in leading the Broncs to a 4-1 record this past weekend at the Spartan-Pirate Clash.

Gonzalez opened the weekend with a pair of three-hit efforts in Rider wins, driving in six Friday at Norfolk State, before collecting four RBI's Saturday against Bryant. She added a pair of hits - a double and a home run - to drive in three more in the Broncs' Sunday win at Hampton.

The honor is the second of Gonzalez's career (Mar. 22, 2021). A 2021 All-Region and All-MAAC First Team selection, Gonzalez is hitting .382 with five doubles, two home runs, 14 RBI's and nine runs scored on the season. From behind the plate, she's also thrown out half of her attempted base stealers, pegging out three of six.
