NEWARK, DE – The Rider University baseball team suffered a loss Friday afternoon to Delaware, 15-1. The Broncs drop to 5-3 on the season, while the Blue Hens improved to 3-5.
The Blue Hens broke through in the first with a pair of runs after loading the bases with no outs.
In the second,
Jake Barbiere (Randolph, NJ/Randolph) drew a one-out walk.
Brendan O'Donnell (Malvern, PA/Great Valley) advanced the runner with an infield single. A wild pitch and an error later, Barbiere came in to score.
Delaware tacked on more in the fourth. Back-to-back doubles to lead off the inning scored one, then a single scored another, before a two-run homer capped the inning. The Blue Hens would add another in the fifth, sixth, and seventh.
In the eighth, Delaware added six runs.
