Men's Golf Breaks Program Three-Round Record at Bash at the Beach

Broncs match single-round record (278), shoot 843 (-9) for the tournament

NORTH MYRTLE BEACH, SC – Louie Giovacchini (Windermere, FL/Windermere) shot three-under 68 and Austin Devereux (Brielle, NJ/Manasquan) shot two-under 69 as the duo finished tied for 10th (207, -6) and led the Rider University men's golf team to a program-record-tying single round of 278 Tuesday at the Bash at the Beach, hosted by Appalachian State at the Surf Golf and Beach Club. Combined with their 284 and 281 yesterday, the Broncs established a new program, three-round record at 843 (-9) to finish sixth of 15 teams at the tournament.  

Giovacchini played a blistering back nine, finishing at -4 over the final nine holes. Included in the success was an eagle on the Par 4, 317-yard, 11th hole. He birdied the Par 4 14th and 15th holes. Giovacchini played the front nine with a birdie and two bogeys to finish at -3 for the round. Devereux played the front and back nines at -1 each to finish the day at -2. He had three birdies and a bogey on the day.  

Rick van der Nat (Noordwijk, The Netherlands/Visser 't Hooft) shot a one-under 70 to finish the tournament one over (214). Jack Urban (Upper St. Clair, PA/Upper St. Clair) shot his third-consecutive one-over 72 to finish the tournament at 216 (+3). Connor Bekefi (Toms River, NJ/Toms River North) fired an even-par 71 to finish the tournament at 218 (+5).

- Troy won the team title at 828 (-24), two strokes ahead of Appalachian State (830, -22). Marquette and LIU (835, -17) tied for third, while UConn (836, -16), finished ahead of the Broncs, while Rider finished ahead of Delaware, a pair of teams from Penn, Rhode Island, North Carolina A&T, North Carolina Central, Saint Francis (Pa.) and Maryland Eastern Shore.
- Rider was the only MAAC school competing in the tournament.
- UConn's Tommy Dallahan won medalist honors at -12 (67-69-65-201).
