LOUDONVILLE, NJ – Niamh Cashin (Nottingham, England/All Saints Academy) scored on a header off a
Camryn Dees (Pickerington, OH/Pickerington H.S. North) corner kick in the 80
th minute, but the Rider University women's soccer team's comeback bid at top-seeded Siena fell just short in a 2-1 loss in Monday's MAAC Championship Semifinals. With the loss, the Broncs conclude their season at 4-2-2, while the Saints (6-0-1) move on to the MAAC Championship Game on Friday against third-seeded Monmouth.
The Saints opened the scoring at the 13-minute mark, as Carrie Krohn finished off a Rachel Sullivan thru ball into the box. In the 75
th minute, Krohn and Allie Bagnall were credited with assists as Jayanna Monds finished off a cross at the right post for a 2-0 lead.
Rider got on the board in the 80
th minute, as Dees' corner rattled down to Cashin, who headed it between Saints defenders for the score. In the 85
th minute, Rider nearly scored off another corner.
Cameron Santers (Wayne, NJ/Wayne Hills) got a shot off that reached the goal line. But it was cleared away by a Saints back to preserve Siena's one-goal lead.

- Rider, making its eighth-straight appearance in the MAAC Championships, returned to the semifinals after a four-year absence.
