Men's Golf Finishes 8th at Peacock Invitational

Devereux shoots two-over 72, finishes 5th

BRANCHBURG, NJ – Senior Austin Devereux (Brielle, NJ/Manasquan) shot a two-over 72 to finish fifth individually and the Rider University men's golf team finished eighth out of 16 teams Monday at the Peacock Invitational at Fox Hollow Golf Club. As a team, the Broncs shot 311 (+31). In blustery conditions, Bryant took the team title with a +20 300.

Thomas Durkin (Suffield, CT/Suffield) was the next-best Rider finisher with a six-over 76, good for a tie for 16th. Andrew Forjan (York, PA/York Catholic) shot an 11-over 81, while Connor Bekefi (Toms River, NJ/Toms River North) rounded out the Broncs' scorers with a 12-over 82.

Fairfield was the top-finishing MAAC team in the field, finishing tied for second at +22 (302). Iona (305) followed, ahead of Rider, Monmouth (312) and Manhattan (332). On an athletic department-wide pause, host Saint Peter's did not compete.

QUOTES & NOTES
"Austin played an exceptional round. But as a whole, we didn't play well. Conditions were brutal and some of the pin locations were unplayable. We had multiple putts inside of five feet roll 10-20 feet past the hole, some were uphill and rolled back outside of where the first putt was. At the end of the day, we just didn't get the job done and hats off to the teams that played it better than we did. We feel good about where we are at. We will regroup and get ready for UConn." – Rider Head Coach Jason Barry

- The Broncs were coming off a tournament victory at the MAAC Spring Kickoff, with Devereux taking the individual title.
- Following a 66 and a 68 at the MAAC Spring Kickoff and today's 72, Devereux has led the Broncs in all three rounds this year.
- Devereux had three of Rider's four birdies on the day.
