NEWARK, DE – The Rider University women's swimming and diving team were defeated by both Delaware and La Salle in a tri-meet Saturday afternoon. The Broncs were defeated by Delaware 247-35 and fell to La Salle 194.5-83.5 to drop to 0-5 this season. The Blue Hens are now 5-0 on the year and the Explorers are 2-2.
Rider opened the meet with a second-place finish in the 200-medley relay.
Kayla May (Columbia, MD/Oakland Hills),
Allison Stewart (Newtown Square, PA/Lower Merion),
Giavanna Lupi (Vineland, NJ/Vineland), and
Connar Melcher (Mohnton, PA/Governor Mifflin) combined to touch the wall at 1:49.45, finishing behind the team from Delaware, but ahead of La Salle.
Stewart had the Bronc's best individual result, finishing fourth in the 100-breast with a time of 1:08.04, faster than any Explorer.
Lupi swam 54.56 in the 100-free, finishing tied for fourth in the event. She then posted a time of 59.42 in the 100-fly to take fourth, besting all swimmers from La Salle.
