WEST LONG BRANCH, NJ – The Rider University baseball team fell on the road to Monmouth, 12-0, on Thursday afternoon in Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) action.
The Broncs (16-35, 7-15 MAAC) dropped their second straight conference game, while the Hawks (25-26-1, 12-10 MAAC) won their seventh game in a row.
Monmouth wasted little time getting on the board as the hosts scored three runs in the first before adding three more runs in the third. The Hawks broke the game open with a four-run outburst in the home half in the fifth.
On the bump, sophomore
Vincent Vitacco (Staten Island, NY/Monsignor Farrell) was saddled with the loss. He tossed four and a third innings and fanned six batters, while scattering nine hits and surrendering seven earned runs.
Offensively, Rider was only able to muster three hits all day.

- Rider committed four errors in the game.

Liam Harding hit a pinch hit single in the top of the ninth.

Kyle Johnson and
Richie Tecco had the other hits for the Broncs.
- Johnson and
Sebastian Williamson both had one stolen base apiece.
- Freshman
Kyle Smith worked the final three and two-thirds innings. He allowed three earned runs and struck out two batters.
