ANNAPOLIS, MD – Navy took all three doubles flights and won all six singles matches in straight sets to defeat the Rider University men's tennis team, 7-0, Sunday afternoon. With the loss, the Broncs fall to 2-7, while the Midshipmen are now 22-13.
Javier Melendez (Cayey, Puerto Rico/Colegio La Merced) and
Nicholas Salazar (Miami, FL/Westminster Christian School) came closest to a doubles win, falling to Andrew Hicks and Cameron Kirkpatrick, 6-3, at No. 3.
The Midshipmen took all six flights in straight sets. Four Broncs took three games in the two sets, including
Ryan Ciaccio (Mercerville, NJ/Hamilton North [Nottingham]), who took three games in the second set against Conners O'Brien at No. 4.
Rider returns to action Friday, when it plays host to Fairleigh Dickinson at 3 p.m.
