HUNTINGTON, WV –
Brianna Parisio (Sayreville, NJ/Sayreville War Memorial) collected three hits, but the Rider University softball team fell to Marshall, 2-0 and 4-0, in a road doubleheader Saturday. With the losses, the Broncs drop to 0-8, while the Thundering Herd is now 13-5.
The Thundering Herd scored single runs in the third and fourth innings of Game 1 and it was enough to hold up in a pitchers' duel that featured just three hits for each team.
Brooklyn Trujillo (Henderson, CO/Prairie View) went the distance in the circle for the Broncs, limiting Marshall to just three hits and six walks, while striking out four.
Marshall used the home run to take a 4-0 lead after four in Game 2, getting a solo shot in the first, a two-run homer in the third and another solo blast in the fourth. Rider countered with eight hits, but couldn't scratch across a run.
