BETHLEHEM, PA –
Austin Devereux (Brielle, NJ/Manasquan) shot two-over 74 to finish second individually at one-over for the tournament as the Rider University men's golf team finished third at the Lehigh Invitational at Saucon Valley Country Club on Saturday. Entering the round ahead by three strokes for first place, the Broncs (602) shot 304 to slip to third behind Holy Cross (592) and Army West Point (598). Devereux finished a stroke back of medalist Justin Williamson of Army West Point and tied with Iona's Oisin Deveruex.
Connor Bekefi (Toms River, NJ/Toms River North) shot an even-par 72 for the Broncs' best score of the day. Combined with his 75 on Friday, Bekefi finished at three-over for the tournament and in a tie for sixth.
Nathan Bazant's (Venetia, PA/Trinity [California (PA)]) matched his first-round score of 78, while
Jake Sollon (Venetia, PA/Peters Township) shot over 74 for the first time this year with an 80.
Griffin Smith (Holland, PA/Council Rock South) also shot 82 for the second-straight round.
NOTES
- Devereux excelled on the Par 5's, eagling the 541-yard, Par 5 15
th hole and scoring a birdie on the 10
th hole. For the tournament, he played the Par 5's at four-under, the second-best score among all players.
- Devereux also had the most par's for the tournament with 24.
- Sollon was two under on the Par 5's, the fourth-best score.
- Bekefi had a team-high four birdies for the second-straight round. His eight birdies were third-most in the tournament.
- Sollon had three birdies, but was plagued by three double bogeys and five bogeys.
- Rider (602, 3
rd) led all MAAC schools in competition, ahead of Iona (603, T-4
th), Siena (616, T-6
th) and Monmouth (630, 11
th).
- Sollon's finishes the Fall with a team-leading 72.4 stroke average. Bekefi is next at 73.3.
