LAKE BUENA VISTA, FL – Senior Eder Moreno (Madrid, Spain/Lander/Santa Helena) and freshman Andrew Forjan (York, PA/York Catholic) each shot 75 to lead the Rider University men's golf team to a 306, good for a tie for fifth place after Day 1 of the MAAC Championships Friday at Disney's Magnolia Golf Course. The duo is tied for 13th individually.

Freshman Austin Devereux (Brielle, NJ/Manasquan) finished strong, playing the back nine at one under to salvage a 77. Durkin finished with a 79, while Jake Sollon (Venetia, PA/Peters Township) rounded out the Broncs' scores with an 81.

Siena leads the overall team scoring after Day 1 with a 293, while Iona is two strokes back at 295. Canisius is third at 299, with Monmouth (305) a stroke ahead of Rider and Manhattan (306). Saint Peter's (310), Niagara (312) and Fairfield (317) round out the team scoring.

QUOTES & NOTES
"Our front nine (the back nine) was a total disaster. We got off to an awful start again. We played really well on the back to salvage what we could. Been the story of our spring – in the hole early and have to battle back. Our guys play with a lot of heart. They could've given up. We know we'll need something low tomorrow to give ourselves a chance on Sunday." – Rider Head Coach Jason Barry

- Rider had the second-most birdies on the day (13, behind only Siena with 17).
- Devereux, Moreno and Sollon each played the Par 3's at even par.
- Forjan led the Broncs with a one over on the Par 4's.
- Forjan had a team-high four birdies on the day, while Devereux and Moreno had three each.
