What You Need To Know
- After having won 6-of-8 games, the Broncs have fallen in their last six – doubleheaders at Monmouth, Iona and Wagner.
- Manhattan has won the last two against Rider, while Saint Peter's has three-straight wins against the Broncs. The Jaspers took a doubleheader sweep last season in Riverdale, while the Peacocks took a non-conference tilt earlier this season to go along with last year's sweep in the season finales in Jersey City.
- Rider's offense has been very much improved under first-year Head Coach Davon Ortega. Last year's team scored a total of 82 runs in 50 games, while this year's team currently has 148 runs through 30 games. Last year's RBI leader had 11, while the Broncs currently have seven players with double-digit RBI totals and four more with eight or more.
- Rider has won three games this season by the mercy rule and is 3-2 in games shortened by the mercy rule. The Broncs' last win by mercy rule prior to this season came in April 2014. Between mercy rule wins, Rider had lost 38 straight mercy-rule decisions.
- Manhattan has posted a 14-16 overall record, but has fallen in its first four league games to Siena and Fairfield.
- Saint Peter's is also winless in four league games, dropping both ends of doubleheaders to Siena and Iona. The Peacocks have combined for two runs in those four games, one in each doubleheader. Saint Peter's defeated the Broncs, 7-6, on March 4 at the Coppin State Eagle Classic.
- During the Broncs' current six-game losing skid, starting second baseman Monica Clark and third baseman Maddy Chain have been sidelined due to injury. Chain has hit a team-high .371 with 15 RBI's, while Clark is second on the team in batting average at .347.
- Senior outfielder Toni Niño (Adelanto, CA/Silverado) has scored a team-high 28 runs this season. She scored six runs in all of 2017 and had 36 in her first three seasons at Rider. Rider's team leaders had 12 runs scored in 50 games played last season.
- Sophomore pitcher Elyse Cuttic (Easton, PA/Bethlehem Catholic) has been effective both in the circle (team-leading 3.84 ERA, four wins) and in the batter's box (.329 average, team-leading four home runs, 18 RBI's).
- Briana Matazinsky is a strong two-way player for Manhattan, hitting a team-best .388 with 18 RBI's, while also posting a 5-6 record with a 3.04 ERA in the circle.
- Manhattan's Nicole Williams has posted a 5-5 record with a team-leading 2.96 ERA and 59 strikeouts in 75.2 innings pitched this season.
- Theamaris Ramirez has been the most potent offensive weapon for Saint Peter's this season with a .366 average, three home runs, nine doubles and 17 RBI's.
- Barbara Verrastro has made a team-high 16 appearances and nine starts in the circle for Saint Peter's, posting an 8.45 ERA.
