LAWRENCEVILLE, NJ – The postseason accolades continued to pile up for Johnathan Jackson (Roselle, NJ/Magnet) of the men's track and field team as he was named a CoSIDA Academic All-American as announced by the organization on Friday afternoon.

The announcement comes on the heels of Jackson being tabbed as a CoSIDA Academic All-District 2 honoree in late May.

“This is quite an honor for a tremendous person,” Rider Head Coach Bob Hamer said. “Johnathan put so much effort into his academics and athletics and it is really great to see him rewarded with this special recognition. It has been an honor to be his coach for four years and I'm really proud of his latest achievement.”

In the classroom, he has landed on the Dean's List and earned Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) All-Academic honors three times.

Jackson graduated from Rider as a dual major in Human Resources and Health Care Management. He compiled a 3.93 GPA in his senior year in Lawrenceville, NJ. Jackson was a member of the 2017 MAAC Men's Indoor Track & Field team, the first-ever in program history. He finished first in the 800 meter at the Indoor Championships and earned a pair of gold medals at the 2017 MAAC Outdoor Track & Field Championships in the 4x800 meter relay and 800 meter outdoors.

Jackson excelled during both the indoor and outdoor campaigns as a senior. He holds the Rider record in both the 800M and 1,000M for indoor and was part of the 4x800M quartet that set a new program best this season. Jackson also holds the outdoor record as part of the 4x800M relay and he has the second-fastest time in Rider history in the 800M outdoors.

He was one of four MAAC student-athletes to earn the distinction in 2016-17.
