Saints sweep Broncs

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2
LOUDONVILLE, NYSabrina Torres (Clifton, NJ/Paramus Catholic) had three hits, but the Rider University softball team fell at Siena, 8-0 and 7-3, Saturday afternoon. With the losses, the Broncs slip to 6-37 (1-15 MAAC), while the Saints are now 18-25 (11-5 MAAC).

The Saints made quick work of the Broncs in Game 1, winning 8-0 in five innings. Siena scored twice in the first, one run in the third and five more in the fourth. Brooke Taylor led Siena with three RBI's, including a two-run home run in the fourth to give the Saints the 8-0 lead.

In Game 2, Siena jumped out to a 7-0 lead and had the bases loaded with no outs in the bottom of the fifth. But Emily Oltman (Collegeville, PA/Perkiomen Valley) escaped the jam without allowing further damage to prolong the game. Amanda Crimarco's (Levittown, NY/Kellenberg) RBI single in the top of the sixth got the Broncs on the board, scoring Ellie Oruska (Chadds Ford, PA/Garnet Valley), who'd doubled with one out. Shelby Miller's (Roseville, CA/Whitney) two-out RBI single scored Crimarco to make it 7-2. Torres would add an RBI double in the top of the seventh, but the Broncs could draw no closer.

NOTES
• Oltman started and took the Game 1 loss, allowing two unearned runs on a hit and four walks in 1.0 inning of work. She'd bounce back with two scoreless frames in relief in Game 2, scattering two hits and a walk, while striking out three.
Megan Ailand (Burlingame, CA/Burlingame) was the losing pitcher in Game 2, allowing one earned run on two hits, starting and going just an inning.
