Box Score ATHENS, GA – Senior outfielder
Tyler Kaiser (Moorestown, NJ/Moorestown) went 2-for-5 with three RBIs to lead the Rider University baseball team past host Georgia, 8-3, on Saturday afternoon at Foley Field. The Broncs (5-5) have won back-to-back games to open the series against the Bulldogs (6-9).
Rider scored all eight of its runs over the first three innings and junior lefty
Nick Margevicius (Roylaton, OH/Saint Ignatius) was stellar on the mound as the Broncs won for the fifth time in the past six games. Margevicius worked seven innings and fanned three hitters, while scattering five hits and surrendering three earned runs to improve to 2-0 on the season.
The Broncs got off to a quick start once again versus Georgia, plating five runs on five hits in the first inning. During the opening frame
Riley Mihalik (Churchville, PA/Chestnut Hill Academy) and
Mike Volaski (Oxnard, CA/Ventura CC/Oxnard) both had RBI singles, while Kaiser added a double that plated two runs. Rider also added another run on a Bulldog error.
In the second, Rider added an insurance run thanks to a run-scoring single to right field by Kaiser. The Broncs capped their scoring on the day courtesy of an RBI double by freshman leadoff hitter
Kyle Johnson (Jackson, NJ/Jackson Memorial) and another run came across on a Georgia error.

“We got off to a good start again,” Rider Head Coach
Barry Davis said. “We are swinging the bat well right now. Again, we got solid innings from our bullpen and we played good defense. Nick was solid on the mound for us and gave us seven strong innings.”
- Johnson led off the game with a hit for the third straight game and the fourth time this season.

Dylan Simcik worked a perfect eighth inning with a strikeout for Rider.

Andrew Tumbelty closed it out for the Broncs, working a hitless ninth inning to go along with a strikeout. In 3.2 innings of work this season, Tumbelty has not allowed an earned run.
