LAWRENCEVILLE—Head coach Jason Barry of the Rider University golf team has announced that Jacob Gurock has signed a National Letter of Intent (NLI) and will join the Rider Class of 2018 this coming fall.

The West Windsor, New Jersey native is currently a senior at West Windsor-Plainsboro High School South, where he will graduate from in at the end of the month.

“Jake is going to be a great addition to our team,” said Barry who will begin his second season at Rider in the fall.  “His work ethic and competitiveness fits in perfectly with our program at Rider.  He is a polished competitor with a golf I.Q. well past his years.”

A four-year letterwinner on the golf team for the Pirates, Gurock is a four-time All-Colonial Valley Conference (CVC) First Team honoree and he was a three-time team Most Valuable Player.

Gurock is a two-time Princeton Packet Player of the Year honoree and was the 2014 winner of the Cherry Valley Invitational.

Gurock has a career nine-hole average of 37 and is looking to major in Finance at Rider.

While at WWP-South, Gurock was the President of the Improv Club, a member of Noteworthy (all-male a cappella group) and played Teen Angel in Grease.

Gurock was also a two-time winner on the International Junior Golf Tour, a two-time winner of the Mercer County Futures Tour Championship and he tied for sixth at the American Junior Golf Association event, held at Stonelick Hills.

Gurock was also a Junior Club Champion at the Trump National in Philadelphia and was the youngest Club Champion at the Greenacres Country Club.

“As Jake's swing coach for the past year, it has been fun to watch him grow and mature,” Barry added.  “I look forward to having him at Rider for the next four years.”

Rider returns six letterwinners for the 2014-15 season.
