2015 Schedule Announced

LAWRENCEVILLE—Four tournaments and 18 home games highlight the 2015 Rider University softball schedule, announced by head coach Tricia Carroll.

Rider opens the season in Charlotte, North Carolina for the five-game 49er Invitational February 20-22 and the next weekend February 28-March 1 has the Broncs in Fairfax, Virginia for the four-game Patriot Classic, hosted by George Mason.

The Broncs open the home portion of the schedule with a single game against Drexel on March 11.

“The schedule is tough which is by design to prepare us for the conference season,” said Carroll, who enters her 21st season at Rider with 389 wins.  “There are a couple opponents we have not played in a long time that I am excited are on our schedule.  Liberty, Kent State, Toledo, UNC Charlotte, Elon and Penn, just to name a few.  These games along with the teams we have played consistently over the years makes for a very competitive schedule.”

Other tournaments include the NC A&T 'Blue-Gold' March 14-15 in Greensboro, North Carolina and Rider stays south for spring break, playing at Elon before participating in the seven-game Liberty Classic, in Lynchburg, Virginia March 19-22.

Rider opens Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference play against Monmouth on March 28 at Herb and Joan Young Field.

Other home dates include March 25 against Fairleigh Dickinson, April 4 against Iona, April 7 against Saint Joseph's, April 18 against Fairfield, April 21 against Columbia, April 29 against La Salle, May 2 against Niagara and May 3 against Canisius.

The doubleheader against Fairfield on April 18 is Alumni Recognition and Fan Appreciation Day, April 21 is Faculty and Staff Appreciation Day, May 2 against Niagara is Cancer Awareness Day and senior day will be celebrated between games of the doubleheader on May 3 against Canisius.

The six team, double elimination, MAAC Championship tournament will be hosted by the regular season champion May 6-10.

Rider returns 16 letterwinners from 2014.
