Rider at Princeton Invitational
Broncs finish 12th
PRINCETON--Freshman James Buttermark (Staten Island, N.Y./Monsignor Farrell) shot a final round 77 for a 54-hole total of 232 to finish tied for 51st out of 68 golfers at the Princeton Invitational this weekend, held at the 6,390 yard, par 71 Springdale Country Club.
"James was the low score for Rider," said head coach Bob Whartenby. "He's really starting to mature and I expect him to keep improving "
As a team, Rider shot 944 (317/316/311) to finish in 12th place.
"So far this was our best team score this spring," said Whartenby. "I'm very pleased that we keep improving but we need to keep pushing to get ready for MAACs."
Also for Rider, senior Brian Accorsini (Hopkinton, Mass./Hopkinton) had a final round 74 to finish with a total of 237 and Accorsini finished tied with teammate, junior Chris Wolak (Issaquah, Wash./Hopkinton) who had a final round 79.
Senior Jordan Wycoff (Fort Washington, Pa./Saint Stephen's Episcopal) tied for 63rd after shooting 81 on Sunday for a 54-hole total of 238.
Senior Brent Wolgast (Bay City, Mich./Pendleton) had a three-round total of 272 to finish 68th.
Yale won the tournament with a score of 848, followed by Pennsylvania with a 54-hole total of 854.
Georgetown and Princeton tied for third (885), followed by Temple (888).
Rider plays in the Mount St. Mary's Invitational April 18-19.
