FAIRFIELD, CT-The Broncs lost at Fairfield Sunday in a Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference game.
The Stags (5-6-5, 3-2-2 MAAC) took a 1-0 lead 3:43 into the game on a shot from outside the box inside the near post, and went up 2-0 in the 26th minutes of play on a penalty kick.
Fairfield took a 3-0 lead with 1:47 left in the first half, out-shooting the Broncs 10-3 in the first half and the final tally came in the 73rd minute of play.
Rider and Fairfield entered the game leading the MAAC in shutouts with seven each.
Fairfield out-shot Rider (9-5-4, 2-3-2 MAAC) 17-9, but only 7-6 in the second half.
Rider junior goalkeeper Jenn Nichols (Stratham, N.H./Exeter) played the second half and made three saves.
Freshman Danielle Singson (Deer Park, NY/St. Anthony's) played the first half in the Rider nets and made two saves.
Rider lost 2-0 to Fairfield last year in Lawrenceville. The last time Rider visited Fairfield the Broncs lost 3-0. Rider is now 3-14 against Fairfield, the last Bronc win coming in 2004.
The Broncs complete the regular season at home, hosting Saint Peter's Friday night (7pm) and Manhattan Sunday afternoon (1pm).
