College Wrestling-Virginia Duals
University at Buffalo 30, Rider 9
HAMPTON, VA-The Broncs lost to Buffalo on Saturday to go 1-2 at the 31st Annual Virginia Duals. "Buffalo has a nice team this year," said Rider head coach Gary Taylor. "I believe that is the first time they ever beat us so they were pretty excited."
For Rider (4-6), senior Rob Morrison (Mechanicsburg, Pa./Cedar Cliff), sophomore Jim Resnick (Media, Pa./Penncrest) and sophomore Zac Cibula (Luxemburg, Wis./Luxemburg Casco) won Saturday and all three went 3-0 on the weekend.
"Those three had a good tournament," Taylor said. "As a team we learned things down here and that is why we came here. In that sense it was a good tournament. We wrestled much better on Friday. You don't beat good teams unless you wrestle hard, like we did Friday."
Cibula defeated the 20th ranked wrestle in the nation from Buffalo. "Zac had a good win over a nationally ranked kid," Taylor said. "That will help him."
Rider takes to the mats again Saturday at the CAA Duals, hosted by George Mason. "The Virginia Duals will certainly help get us ready for the CAA Duals,"' Taylor said. "Every match was very competitive. Next weekend will be a bear also."
Rider takes on the host team, Mason, along with two of the top four teams in the CAA, Binghamton and Old Dominion. "Binghamton and ODU are both very strong teams and George Mason has some good individuals."
