FAIRFAX, VA-The Broncs defeated host George Mason and Binghamton at the Colonial Athletic Association Duals Saturday. "It was fortunate that we were able to win them both today," said Rider head coach Gary Taylor. "This was a good day."

For Rider (8-5, 2-1 CAA) senior Ed Bordas (Montgomery, NY/Valley Central), senior Michael Kessler (Randallstown, MD/Owings Mills), sophomore Jimmy Kirchner (Somerville) and junior Rob Morrison (Mechanicsburg, Pa./Cedar Cliff) all won twice.

Against Binghamton, Bordas (23-6), ranked 14th in the nation and first in the CAA, defeated the third ranked wrestler in the CAA in the final bout for the win. "That was a good scenario," Taylor said. "We were happy it came down to Eddie. Eddie beat the Binghamton kid solid and he's a very solid kid."

Rider freshman Jim Resnick (Media, Pa./Penncrest) had a come-from behind pin for the difference in the match with each team winning five bouts. "The Binghamton match was very exciting with the five-five split," Taylor said. "Resnick's pin was huge because those were the only bonus points for either team."

Kessler defeated the 17th ranked wrestler in the nation. "Kessler defeated one of Binghamton's best wrestlers (Donnie Vinson, ranked 17th in the nation)," Taylor said.

Kessler is now 16-8 on the season, 11-2 in duals. With the two wins Kirchner improves to 12-8. "Kirchner continues to wrestle well," Taylor said.

Against host Mason, the Broncs won eight of the 10 bouts, including a pin by Morrison. "Robbie had one of the biggest wins on the day over the George Mason kid (Frankie McLaughlin), who is pretty tough and one of their best kids. They were in a tight match before Robbie pinned him."

Freshman Zac Cibula (Luxenburg, Wis./Casco), sophomore Aaron Nestor (Transfer, PA/Reynolds), sophomore Tyler Smith (Phillipsburg, N.J./Belvidere) and senior Mike Ward (Mayfield, Ohio/Mayfield Village) also collected wins for Rider.

Cibula is now 11-2 in duals, while Nestor improved to 6-5 in duals. "Nestor pinned the kid from Mason and took the top ranked 141 in the CAA (Anwar Goeres) into overtime," Taylor said. "He looked pretty good." Cibula was the CAA Rookie of the Week last week.

Rider hosts Rutgers January 22 at 8pm following a preliminary match between South Plainfield High School, ranked third in New Jersey, and Camden Catholic High School, ranked eighth in New Jersey. "Rutgers is a very tough team this year," Taylor said. "On paper they will probably be favored, so we have to wrestle well to beat them."
