Wrestler Lapham, Swimmer Modrov Athletes of Month

LAWRENCEVILLE?Jason Lapham of the wrestling team and Priscilla Modrov of the swimming & diving team were named the Rider University Athletes of the Month for all competition in November.

Lapham (West Chazy, NY/Beekmantown) compiled a 10-1 record in November, winning his weight class at the Stroudsburg Open and placing runner-up at the Keystone Classic. In Rider's only dual meet, Lapham won 4-0 in Rider's victory over Lock Haven.

Modrov (Smithtown, N.Y./Hauppauge) finished first in four events when Rider gave Marist it's first-ever loss at home to a MAAC team. She placed first in four events against Lehigh while setting a Coppola Pool and Rider record time in the 200 butterfly (2:02.55) and also set a pool record in the 200 IM (2:06.42).

Twice the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference Swimmer of the Week in November, Modrov also won two events against La Salle and Delaware. Last season Modrov was the MAAC Championships and the ECAC Championships Most Outstanding Performer.

Last year Lapham placed third at the Colonial Athletic Association Championships and fourth at the prestigious Midlands Championships.
