ANNAPOLIS, MD--The Rider University men began the 2004-05 season 1-1 while the women were 0-2 at Navy Saturday.
Senior Sam Engle (Manheim, PA/Manheim Central) won the 100m backstroke (57.69), the 200m backstroke (2:05.61) and the 200m individual medley (2:11.82).
Senior Bobby DeSandre (Trenton, NJ/Notre Dame) won the 100m butterfly (59.40) and placed second in the 200 IM (2:14.95).
The men's 200 medley relay team of Engle, DeSandre, junior Drew DiChaira (Cheshire, CT/Cheshire) and junior Dan Burgess (Greeley, CO/Union Colony Prep) won in a time of 1:48.73.
Sophomore Brandon Modrov (Smithtown, NY/Hauppauge) placed second in the 800 free (8:59.94).
The men's 400 free relay team of freshman Matt Nicolino (Drexel Hill, PA/Upper Darby), junior Trevor Vernal (Milford, CT/Notre Dame), Modrov and junior Joe Giberti (Wantagh, NY/Wantagh) placed second in 3:44.53.
For the women, junior Kristen Enoch (Hatboro, PA/Upper Moreland) placed second in the 100 breaststroke (1:16.98)
Rider competes at UMBC October 23.
