LAWRENCEVILLE--The Broncs were swept by Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference rival Marist Saturday.
For the Rider men (3-1), freshman Sam Engle (Manheim, PA/Manheim Central) won the 200 yard backstroke (1:52.66) in a new Rider record and Coppola Pool Record time of 1:52.66 breaking the previous Pool mark set by Marist's Keith Nichols of 1:55.24 and former Rider mark of 1:53.91set by Jason Snyder in 1998.
For the Rider women (2-3), sophomore Melissa Morrissy (Horsham, PA/Hatboro-Horsham) won the 1,000 yard freestyle (10:53.62) and the 200 yard breaststroke (2:28.16) and swam on the winning 400 yard medley relay.
Junior Melissa Michalov (Hatboro, PA/Hatboro-Horsham) won the 200 yard backstroke (2:13.64) and swam on the winning 400 yard medley relay, and freshman Briana Cohen (Pomona, NY/Rampao) won the 500 yard freestyle and swam on the winning 400 yard medley relay.
Also for the men, sophomore Brandon Pierce (Milford, OH/Moeller) won the 1,000 yard freestyle (10:04.24) and the 500 yard freestyle (4:53.84), and freshman Bobby DeSandre (Trenton/Notre Dame) won the 200 yard individual medley (1:58.67) and the 200 yard butterfly (1:56.51). Junior Rob Baier (Mt. Laurel/Lenape) won the 3-meter dive (232.88).
The Rider swim teams compete at The College of New Jersey Invitational November 17.
