2017 All-American Ryan Wolfe returned to Rider in Sept. 2018 following a year as an assistant coach at Lock Haven. Along with All-American honors, Wolfe was a three-time NCAA DI tournament qualifier and three-time EWL Champion. He was a four-time EWL finalist, a two-time place-winner at the Midlands Tournament and he was also a freestyle All-American.Â
It was another strong season for the Broncs in 2024-25, earning a dual meet win over 24th-ranked Maryland during the regular season before taking fifth at the MAC Championships behind four individual champions. At the NCAA Championships, Sammy Alvarez took seventh to earn All-America honors.
The Broncs secured a second-straight MAC East Division Dual Meet Championship in 2023-24 with a perfect 8-0 mark in conference duals. Quinn Kinner earned All-America honors with an 8th-place finish at the NCAA Championships.
In Wolfe's first year as an assistant coach under Head Coach John Hangey, the Broncs sent four wrestlers to NCAA's in Dean Sherry (174), Anthony Cefolo (133), Jesse Dellavecchia (165) and Ethan Laird (197). Sherry and Laird each won their weight class at EWL Championships as the Broncs finished second as a team for the second-straight year.Â
Success continued for the program in 2019-20, with Dellavecchia and Laird earning All-America recognition from the NWCA following the cancellation of NCAA's. As the No. 4 seed, Dellavecchia was honored as a First Team All-American, while 16th-seeded Laird took Honorable Mention recognition.Â
The Broncs reached new heights in 2020-21, with Dellavecchia earning National Finalist honors, becoming the first-ever Bronc to reach the National Finals. Dellavecchia's individual success coincided with team success, as the Broncs finished third at MAC Championships, Head Coach John Hangey earned MAC Co-Coach of the Year and six Rider wrestlers advanced to NCAA's.Â
