GAME NOTES: Holy Cross
What You Need to Know
- Rider returns home for a non-conference showdown versus Holy Cross on Saturday, November 18, at 2:00 pm inside Alumni Gym.
- The game is the third of four straight against teams from the Patriot League for the Broncs. In the opener, Bucknell edged Rider in Lawrenceville and last time out Navy upended the Broncs in Annapolis.
- Holy Cross won its season-opener, 84-56, at UMass Lowell before falling to Marist, 85-74, in Poughkeepsie on Tuesday. Saturday's showdown in Lawrenceville is the third of four straight road games to start the season for the Crusaders. Senior guard Infiniti Thomas-Waheed is averaging 22 points and over five rebounds per game, while shooting over 56 percent from the field. The two-headed Crusader attack also sees sophomore forward Lauren Manis scoring over 21 points and grabbing better than eight boards per contest. Last time out, Manis recorded a double-double thanks to a 22-point, 13-rebound performance. As a team, Holy Cross is shooting 46 percent from the field and 81 percent from the free-throw line. The Crusaders are averaging 28 three-point attempts per contest thus far, hitting 11 against UMass Lowell and six versus Marist.
- Rider and Holy Cross are meeting for the third time. The two squads first met during the 1998-99 season and the last meeting was in December of 2000 in a neutral-site battle in Miami. The Crusaders have won both games against the Broncs, including an 83-69 triumph during the 2000-01 campaign.Â
- The Rider University women's basketball team was picked to finish sixth in the MAAC Preseason Coaches' Poll as announced in mid-October during the MAAC Basketball Preseason Awards Show on ESPN3.

Kamila Hoskova and sophomore guard
Stella Johnson both earned preseason honors from the league. Hoskova landed on the Preseason All-MAAC Second Team, while Johnson received Preseason All-MAAC Third Team distinction.
- Freshman guard Jaiden Morris scored seven points off the bench for Rider against Bucknell in her collegiate debut. All seven of her points came in the first quarter capped by a buzzer-beating three from the wing. Last time out, she poured in a career-high nine points off the bench thanks to hitting a pair of three-pointers.Â
- Hoskova had 19 points on 7-of-10 shooting against Navy. She knocked down her lone attempt from three-point range and hit all four of her free-throw attempts. Hoskova also had three steals, three assists, three rebounds and one block. She accounted for over 43 percent of the team's points against the Mids.
- Rider is outscoring opponents, 36-28, in the first quarter through two games this season.
- Sophomore
Lea Favre is averaging over seven points per game in 2017-18 for the Broncs. Last time out, she scored seven points and pulled down a career-high 10 rebounds. Seven of her boards came on the defensive end. Classmate Aubre Johnson has grabbed six rebounds in each of her first two games with Rider.
- Rider bounced back in the second half against Navy, outscoring the Mids, 24-22. Rider scored 14 points in the fourth, while Navy had 11. In the second half in Annapolis, the Broncs hit 9-of-30 (30 percent) from the floor after hitting 8-of-31 in the first half.
