- Navy won its season-opener, 77-70, at Marist on Friday afternoon. The Mids were led senior guard Hannah Fenske with 22 points thanks to knocking down 5-of-7 shots from three-point range. Four other Navy players scored in double figures in the victory over the Red Foxes. As a team, the USNA shot over 46 percent from the field and 70 percent from the free-throw line. Navy trailed by as many as 14 against Marist before rallying for the win. The Mids got 25 points off the bench, highlighted by sophomore guard Morgan Taylor. Sophomore forward Kaila Clark registered a double-double for the Mids versus Marist thanks to an 11-point, 10-rebound performance.
- Rider and Navy are meeting for the fourth time in the series history. Navy has won all three showdowns, including a 75-64 triumph at home last time the teams met in November of 2013.
- The Rider University women's basketball team was picked to finish sixth in the MAAC Preseason Coaches' Poll as announced in mid-October during the MAAC Basketball Preseason Awards Show on ESPN3. The Broncs earned 68 points in the poll that was voted on by the league's 11 head coaches.
- Senior guard/forward Kamila Hoskova and sophomore guard Stella Johnson both earned preseason honors from the league. Hoskova landed on the Preseason All-MAAC Second Team, while Johnson received Preseason All-MAAC Third Team distinction.
- Junior point guard Lexi Posset scored 12 points and dished out six assists last time out. Posset scored in double figures for the fifth straight contest dating back to early of March of last season. She was a concise 5-of-9 shooting as all of her misses came from deep. The third-year guard also grabbed five rebounds, knocked down two free throws and registered one steal.
- Freshman guard Jaiden Morris scored seven points off the bench for Rider against Bucknell. All seven of her points came in the first quarter capped by a buzzer-beating three from the wing. In her first flurry of collegiate action, Morris knocked down 3-of-5 shots in the opening frame.
- Rider forced 28 turnovers in the season-opener, highlighted by registering 18 steals as a team. The Broncs scored 30 points off turnovers and held the Bison to just nine points on 1-of-11 shooting in the first quarter. Kamila Hoskova and Stella Johnson combined for 11 steals as Hoskova tied a career-high with five.

- Stella Johnson picked up where she left off last season, recording six steals in the season opener versus Bucknell on Friday evening. It was her third career game with six or more steals after accomplishing the feat in her first two career games as a freshman. On the offensive end, she scored a game-high 18 points for the Broncs versus the Bison.
- Lexi Stover, Kamila Hoskova and Lexi Posset are the team captains for the 2017-18 season. Posset looks to transition from her role as the first player off the bench as a sophomore to starting point guard as a junior.

- Rider will play teams from the Patriot League in each of the first four contests this season. The Broncs open up at home versus Bucknell, before traveling to Navy for a road game. Rider concludes its four-game stretch versus Patriot League foes with a home game against Holy Cross and a road tilt with Lafayette.
