Broncs look for 3-0 start vs. La Salle Thursday night

LAWRENCEVILLE, NJ - The Rider University women's basketball team looks to improve to 3-0 to open a season for the first since since 1982-83 when the Broncs host the Explorers of La Salle University on Thursday evening at 7pm in Alumni Gymnasium. Rider and La Salle last met on December 19, 2010 when the Explorers won 78-58 in Philadelphia. La Salle leads the all-time series 9-0.

Rider is coming off a 76-58 win over Lafayette in the home opener on Monday night behind 22 points from senior Robin Perkins and a Rider record eight steals from reigning MAAC Rookie of the Week Stella Johnson. The Broncs opened the season with a win at perennial power Princeton 70-62.

La Salle lost to Lafayette 56-49 last Friday and lost at Temple 86-70 on Monday.

Rider finished the 2015-16 season 8-22, 5-15 in the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference, finishing tied for ninth. Rider played in the First Round of the MAAC Tournament against #7 seed Siena College, losing 79-76 in overtime despite 26 points from sophomore Kamila Hoskova. La Salle was 5-25, 2-14 in the A-10 last season.

Rider is being led in scoring by All-MAAC performer Robin Perkins who is averaging 19.0 points per game. The Broncs have been led on the boards by Julia Duggan who is currently 13th on Rider's all-time rebounding list with 558.
