Rider Has Strong Outing At Home For Rider Invite

Broncs finish with six event winners at home meet

LAWRENCEVILLE, NJ  - Rider men's Track and Field would take first place overall winning six events as they hosted the Rider Invitational at the Michael P. Brady Track & Field Complex Saturday.

On the track, Rider was led by Artie Burgess and Gobi Thurairajah who both won in the 200m and 800m for the Broncs. Burgess would win the 200m with a time of 21.78 while Thurairajah would win the 800m with a time of 1:56.00 in his first appearance in the 800m in the outdoor season. 

In the jumps, Rider would see a pair of excellent performances from Zach Manorowitz, and Javier Santiago as the pair would take home first in the long jump and the pole vault respectively. Manorowitz would jump 7.64m in the pit tying a career-best that he set at last year's Metro Atlantic Outdoor Track & Field Championships. Santiago would jump 4.25m resulting in his first event win of his career. Marques Merriweather would also have a strong showing finishing 2nd in the high jump with a 1.94m mark.

In the throwers pit, Abraham Ohiokhai-Benson and Jayden DuBard would both get event wins in the discus and shot put. Ohiokhai-Benson would post a 49.22m mark which is his second-best of the outdoor season. DuBard would also get a first-place finish in the shot put, winning the event with a 14.84m mark.

Rider will turn their attention toward the 127th Penn Relays and the TCNJ Invite starting on Thursday April 27th
