Rider at Rutgers Invitational - Day One
O'Connor Wins Two Events
PISCATAWAY - The Rider University women's swimming and diving team swam at the Rutgers Invitational Friday night in the B Division and the Broncs are in fifth place overall out of six teams.
For Rider, sophomore Kelly O'Connor (Beverly, Mass./Beverly) won the 200 back (2:07.15) and the 200 fly (2:06.22), senior Brianna Burns (Chestnut Ridge, N.Y./Spring Valley) won the 100 free (52.64) and senior Aisley Carter (Clarksburg, Md./Walter Johnson) won the one meter dive (212.05).
Freshman Melanie Leonhard (Piscataway) won the 500 free (5:03.53) and senior Alicia Fimple (Drexel Hill, Pa./Upper Darby) won the 200 IM (2:08.15).
The 400 medley relay of junior Kori Kraus (Mays Landing/St. Joseph's), Fimple, O'Connor and Burns won, finishing with a time of 4:00.89.
The 200 free relay of sophomore Stephanie Anderer (Nesconset, N.Y./Smithtown HS East) placed, Fimple, freshman Danielle Warwick (Catonsville, Md./Mount de Sales Academy) and Burns won with a time of 1:39.71.
Other teams participating are Harvard, Minnesota, Rutgers Saint Francis, Pa. and Toledo.
Competition continues Saturday at 5pm.
