Men's 800 Free Relay sets Rider Record
PITTSBURGH, PA-The Broncs are competing at the Eastern College Athletic Conference Swimming & Diving Championships, hosted by the University of Pittsburgh. The Rider men are currently in third place among 21 teams and the Rider women are third of 22 teams.
Rider senior Amanda Burke (Churchville, PA/William Tennent) won the 3-meter dive with a Trees Pool record score of 381.70. Burke set the Pittsburgh Pool Record in the 1-meter dive on Friday.
Also on Saturday for the Rider men, freshman Johnny Funk (Las Vegas, Nev./SE Career and Tech) placed third in the 400 Individual Medley (4:01.99), freshman Brian Molloy (Toms River/Toms River East) placed fourth in the 200 free (1:41.71), freshman Julien Hensen (Delafield, Wis./Kettle Moraine) placed sixth in the 100 breast (57.44) and freshman Jeremy Chaudet (Branchburg/Somerville) placed seventh (57.68) in the 100 breast.
Rider's 800 free relay team of senior Brian Brady (Turnersville/Gloucester Catholic), Funk, junior Ryan Nelthropp (Christiansted, V.I./St. Croix Country Day) and Molloy placed third (6:49.90), setting a new Rider record.
Rider's 200 medley relay team of Funk, Hensen, senior Scott Player (Chino Hills, CA/Ruben S. Ayala) and Molloy placed fifth (1:34.48).
Also for the Rider women, senior Kellyanne Tomasula (Sussex/Vernon Twp.) placed second in the 100 back (56.124), junior Brianna Burns (Chestnut Ridge, NY/Spring Valley) placed third in the 200 free (1:53.01), junior Aisley Carter (Clarksburg, MD/Walter Johnson) placed fourth in the 3-meter dive (212.05) and freshman Kelly O'Connor (Beverly, Mass./Beverly) placed fifth in the 400 Individual Medley (4:31.91).
The women's 800 free relay of freshman Addie Oswald (Henderson, Nev./Green Valley), senior Lovette Leonhard (Piscataway), freshman Carly Misiewicz (Vineland/Sacred Heart) and Burns placed fifth (7:46.33).
Competition continues Sunday.
