Rider's Thompson Mid-Major All-American

LAWRENCEVILLE--Rider University junior Ryan Thompson was named to the collegeinsider.com Mid-Major All-America team, it was announced today.

A 6'6” point guard from Mt. Laurel (Lenape High), Thompson was also named the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference Most Valuable Player by collegeinsider.com.

Named to the National Association of Basketball Coaches First Team All-District 1, Thompson was a First Team All-MAAC selection.

Thompson led Rider to a 19-win season by ranking second in the MAAC in scoring (18.0), first in minutes played (38.2), second in three-point field goal percentage (.422), seventh in assists (3.3), eighth in field goal percentage (.509), eighth in free throw percentage (.773), 11th in rebounding (6.5) and 11th in three-pointers made (32).

After three seasons Thompson now has 1,313 career points, 16th highest ever at Rider.

Rather then assembling first, second, third and fourth team squads, the collegeinsider.com Mid-Major All-America team is one team consisting of 21 players and honorable mentions. Division I coaches and NBA scouts are part of the selection process, but final decision rests with the collegeinsider.com staff.
